Publix is embracing the use of online printable coupons from just about any site out there. You can print coupons from couponmom.com, coupons.com, and even company websites and social networking sites, and Publix will honor them all. These can really add up to take a big bite out of your weekly grocery bill.
Target is taking a different approach by going after frugal-minded customers with mobile coupons via text message. Anyone with a web-enabled phone is able to receive these text messages that include coupon and sales announcements. To use the coupon on your phone, you simply hand the phone to the cashier and they will scan the bar-code from your screen. These deals include everything from food, to clothing and household goods, and even food court meals.

Ed YourdonThere are some things to consider when using sites like Groupon and Living Social that offer daily deal discounts of up to 50% off or more at local businesses. For one thing, these discounts may be much less once you factor in taxes, tips and any portion of the bill that is not covered. Because businesses recoup so little of the voucher price, they have an incentive to price deals so that you're forced to spend more.
Good examples of deals are a $50 a plate restaurant offering a $30 voucher, or a photo package with just two prints. To avoid bill shock, you should check the voucher restrictions for excluded dates and any extra charges that the voucher doesn't cover, and use the business's website to calculate the total tab if possible. Then ask yourself it is still a great deal before you buy.
